Nazli Ece Ekici Usaklioglu is a dedicated legal professional with a dual license to practice law in California and Turkey and an international career. With a distinguished academic background, Nazli holds two LL.M. degrees, most recently from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), where she graduated with a specialization in 2023. Admitted to UCLA with the prestigious Dean’s Tuition Fellowship Award, Nazli’s academic achievements are complemented by her contributions to legal scholarship.

Nazli’s journey in law is deeply rooted, being a second-generation lawyer raised with a strong sense of legal understanding and a commitment to justice. Her academic achievements include a Bachelor of Laws degree from Istanbul Bilgi University, where she graduated with honors, and another LL.M. degree from The University of Law, London (UK) where she wrote her dissertation on the ‘Possibility of Robot Arbitrators’. Her innovative approach to legal research and her enthusiasm for exploring new ideas were recognized with merit recognition for her dissertation, which reflects her dedication to staying at the forefront of legal innovation and her commitment to finding creative solutions to legal problems.

Nazli has made other contributions to legal scholarship, including her academic paper titled “Cryptomnesia and Subconscious Copying,” written during her time at UCLA, was published on SSRN and cited by academics from different universities worldwide. She has also authored articles and papers on Social Media Law, Employment Law, Internet Law, and Human Rights Law during her law studies in Istanbul, Turkey.

With experience both in California and overseas, she has developed a unique understanding of international law and its applications. Her professional journey began as an associate attorney at a prestigious law firm in Istanbul, where she was involved in civil litigation in the areas of employment, commercial and entertainment law, and represented major media companies in their employment law cases. With this broad foundation, she successfully transitioned to the firm’s corporate department, where she represented international companies, start-ups and banks, and also became part of the arbitration team. She attended and successfully completed the London School of Economics Course and Certificate Program in International Commercial Litigation and Arbitration.

Before moving to California, she also worked in-house at the legal department of a major global company’s Turkey branch, where she specifically wrote petitions for employment law claims, prepared dealership agreements, answered customer complaints, and organized the negotiation and litigation process.

Beyond her legal pursuits, she has a diverse range of interests and accomplishments. She is a certified musician who completed the Associated Boards of Royal Schools of Music program, with experience in voluntarily teaching piano to children and participating in recitals. Her academic background includes a high school graduation dissertation thesis on deep technical analysis of derivative musical works, written in German.
